York Woods Tree & Products has proudly served the Eliot, ME area for over 20 years as a family-owned business. Founded in 1996 by Mike and Angie Lewis as Lewis Landscaping, the company quickly expanded to meet the needs of both businesses and homeowners in the community.

In 2001, the company rebranded as York Woods Tree & Products, named after the road they lived on at the time, to emphasize their growing focus on tree work and logging. With an abundance of wood products from their jobsites, Mike and Angie recognized the need to adjust their business strategy to reduce waste from tree work.

By 2008, York Woods introduced a green waste recycling program, accepting green waste from both their own jobsites and those of other businesses and homeowners. This initiative enabled them to produce high-quality mulches, compost, loam, and a variety of aggregates.

In 2014, the Lewis family purchased their current property on Route 236, where they built a new retail store, processing yard, and greenhouse. As their business continued to grow, they shifted their focus from residential tree work to landscape products and services, though a small tree crew remains active, specializing in tree clearing for projects like solar fields, housing developments, and roadway safety.

The Garden Center division was added in 2016, offering a wide selection of plants, bagged soils, pots, seeds, and more. Today, the garden center is open year-round with a seasonal assortment of annuals, perennials, vegetable starts, herb starts, succulents, and houseplants.

Today, York Woods Tree & Products continues to be family-run, with Mike and Angie at the helm. Their children play key roles in the business: Michael Mountain oversees sales and store operations, Cassie Allen manages the garden center and coordinates events, and Emily Lewis (now a full-time nurse) remains involved with social media. Even the family’s dachshund, Willow, is a valued member of the team!
