Can I adopt on the day of the event?
Yes, You Can Adopt on the Day of the Event!
If you’re ready to welcome a new furry friend into your home, you can adopt on the day of the event! Please reach out directly to the rescue organization you’re interested in adopting from. Most rescues require you to complete an adoption application before taking your new companion home.
We recommend contacting the rescue in advance to learn about their specific adoption process and requirements.
Lucky Pup Rescue
"Our mission is to find the best match of forever family so that the humans and their canine buddies will have a long happy life together. First, dogs come into one of our foster families where they learn house manners, become comfortable with new experiences, and get their needs met while being assessed to help us in making that special forever match. We are based in southern Maine, but we do not have a physical shelter."
Kittery Animal Hospital
"We have been the animal shelter for Kittery, Eliot, and York, Maine since 1983. Over the years we have placed thousands of animals into forever homes. The northeast has done a great job of population control and keeping animals in their homes. The local area does not have enough animals to fulfil the needs of pets. For years puppy mills provided pets to fill this gap. However, in the south millions of dogs and cats are being euthanized in shelters and abandoned on the streets. For the past 8 years we have gained access to more space and expanded to transporting animals from the south, the islands, and New York City."
